Description

On a bright sunny Spring day, my tulips are blooming. I can just barely see a bit of pollen on one tepal. Yes, tepal, because the sepals and petals are indistinguishable in tulips. In this case I could have said petal, since sepals are the outermost layer, and this most definitely is the innermost layer. Usually sepals are green, but in the case of tulips they are not. Tulips have three petals and three sepals, or six tepals if you prefer.
